£200,000-a-week Arsenal star holds pre-summer talks to join European club

The Brazilian has vowed to keep on improving the Arsenal squad, and reportedly wants to bring in a new goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward (Simon Collings). However, to fund the acquisition of what would be four key signings, certain members of the squad will have to be sold to balance their books.

At the back, keeper Aaron Ramsdale has been widely tipped to leave Arsenal after losing his spot to David Raya at the start of 2023/2024. Ramsdale has still managed a spot in England's provisional squad for Euro 2024, but he may not be in Gareth Southgate's favour much longer if he doesn't go elsewhere for guaranteed game time.

There have even been reports that Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Ramsdale already, but this audacious claim is yet to come to fruition. Elsewhere in the squad, it is believed Edu could sell Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe – as the transfer chief looks to fund a swoop for Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes among others.

Bigger names aren't ruled out from the chopping block either, as uncertainty surrounds the futures of both Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey. Both Jesus and Partey are attracting Saudi interest, according to reports, with Pro League sides said to be preparing "lucrative" contract offers to tempt them.

Partey scarcely featured under Mikel Arteta last season in comparison to previous years, making just 14 top flight appearances, with the Ghanaian also entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Thomas Partey holds Arsenal exit talks with Fenerbache

Now, Fotospor have an update on the £200,000-a-week midfielder's future. They claim Partey has held talks with Fenerbache over leaving Arsenal, with a meeting taking place between him and the Turkish Super Lig giants. However, much will depend on the result of their presidential elections, which will have a real say on whether or not they formally move for Partey.

Ali Koc, the current Fenerbache president, will be at the centre of a vote in around 10 days time. If a sufficient majority isn't achieved at the ordinary elections, another vote will be held on the 8-9 June.

If Koc remains president of Fenerbache, they will apparently sit down for formal talks with Arsenal over signing Partey. The 30-year-old, if he does depart north London this summer, will be remembered as a faithful servant – with La Liga expert Gerry Armstrong calling him "sensational".

Davies could sign "terrific" replacement for Stansfield at Birmingham

da leao: Chris Davies, now fresh in the Birmingham City hot seat, will want to crack on and start adding signings to his new Blues roster, ahead of entering into the cut and thrust of League One.

da realsbet: The new Blues manager, who has left the comforts of Tottenham Hotspur behind for the challenge of getting the sleeping giant immediately promoted, will hope he's adequately backed in the transfer market, as the American owners at St. Andrew's also pray for a short but sweet stay in the third-tier.

Losing Jay Stansfield, who has returned back to the luxuries of Premier League Fulham after a fruitful loan stay, is an obvious blow, having been a constant ray of positivity during dark recent times in the West Midlands.

But, they could immediately replace him with this potential buy in the works.

Birmingham linked with Stansfield replacement

According to a recent report in The Sun, Birmingham – alongside a whole host of other EFL clubs – are queueing up to try and win the services of forgotten Burnley man Scott Twine, who will be sold by the Clarets this transfer window.

Adept at playing down the wings, as an attacking midfielder, or up top, Twine would be an ideal replacement for the out-going Stansfield, who can equally play in all of these roles competently.

Likewise, Twine would also be able to replace Stansfield in terms of goal numbers, with the promising Fulham youngster bagging 13 goals last season for the Blues, even with the on-field situation being bleak for the majority of the campaign.

The Clarets target has also proven himself to be a goalscoring machine in the EFL from memorable stints at clubs away from Turf Moor, but it won't be a foregone conclusion that the 24-year-old relocates to Birmingham, with interest from the Championship in Bristol City and Sunderland no doubt more tempting.

Yet, with the upward trajectory of his career grinding to somewhat of a halt in Lancashire, moving down to League One could be the confidence-boosting switch he needs, to find his shooting boots once more.

How Twine could be Birmingham's next Stansfield

The 24-year-old never quite settled at Turf Moor after a whirlwind rise all the way up from League Two to the Championship, with the agile attacker suffering from unfortunate luck with injuries, alongside a whole plethora of other exciting forwards at Vincent Kompany's disposal being available over him.

Twine's record in League One will, however, make Davies' eyes light up in the Blues dug-out regardless of his up-and-down stint at Burnley, with the slick forward bagging 20 goals last time he was in the division for Milton Keynes Dons, which actually betters Stansfield's one-season goal return when he was plying his trade with Exeter City on loan in the same league.

Ending his last season in the third tier with a ridiculous 33 goal contributions, it's no shock to see that Twine's ex-MK Dons manager Liam Manning wants to add him to his Bristol City group now, having once described the 24-year-old as a "terrific" talent when the pair were together at Stadium MK.

Twine's numbers at Championship level, before his Clarets career began to fizzle out, aren't far off Stansfield's this season just gone either, tallying up nine goals and four assists in the division across 49 total games, which included a sublime free-kick being fired in on the way to Kompany's men winning the title.

This would arguably be a statement signing from Birmingham, and one that would instantly lift the spirits at St. Andrew's, ahead of what they hope is a promotion-winning campaign.

Chelsea ready imminent bid for £80 million star called "amazing" by Haaland

da heads bet: Chelsea are set to make an offer for one £80 million star in the next few days, with Enzo Maresca's side facing competition from elite European clubs Atletico Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain in a potentially high-profile transfer tussle.

Chelsea set sights on new attacking signings for Maresca

da mrbet: After confirming the arrival of their new head coach earlier this week, Stamford Bridge chiefs have now turned their attention to the summer window, as they look to usher in the Maresca era with some squad upgrades.

The likes of Fabrizio Romano have backed Chelsea to have a busy next few months in terms of incomings and outgoings at the club, with the Blues already sealing their first deal of the summer in recent days.

Centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo arrives at Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer after completing his medical on Tuesday, who comes in to gift Maresca a capable extra body in defence and another homegrown player to bolster the club's quota.

"It will continue to be a busy summer at Chelsea," said Romano on Chelsea's transfer plans after bringing in Maresca to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

"It won’t be completely crazy but they will try to make smart things happen, including a new goalkeeper and I expect them to try for at least one new centre-back, but it could be two. I also expect Chelsea to be busy with the striker position, and I mentioned many times Benjamin Sesko, who is highly rated at Chelsea but also by others like Arsenal and Manchester United.”

In terms of attacking signings, alongside a new centre-forward, it is believed that Chelsea are eyeing up a new winger as well. Benjamin Sesko and Michael Olise are keen on joining Chelsea, according to some reports, and discussions have been held with their agents.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko

It is still very early days in regard to both moves, though, even if some outlets suggest Chelsea are ready to trigger Olise's release clause in the coming weeks. The west Londoners have attacking alternatives, and one of them is Man City forward Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine World Cup winner, who reportedly commands a price tag of around £80 million, is now subject to interest from Maresca and co. Chelsea's new head coach worked with Alvarez during their time together at Eastlands, with Maresca serving as Pep Guardiola's assistant before moving to Leicester last summer.

Chelsea set for imminent offer to sign Julian Alvarez

As per reliable South American journalist Gaston Edul, speaking to TyC Sports, Chelsea are set to make an offer for Alvarez in the next few days. However, both Atletico and PSG are also contending for the 24-year-old.

"Chelsea will make a proposal for Julian Alvarez in the next few days," said Edul, as translated by Chelsea News.

"Atletico Madrid has also asked for information from agents. PSG are interested in making an offer too.. Alvarez just wants to play more, but City wants to keep him ideally and it won’t be easy to negotiate."

Alvarez has been called an "amazing talent" by Haaland, and scored 19 goals in all competitions last season for the eventual Premier League champions.

Steidten making early West Ham moves

da cassino: Technical director Tim Steidten helped West Ham win the race to sign Brazilian Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras last week, with the teenage winger becoming the club’s first arrival of the Julen Lopetegui era. Speaking after securing a deal, Steidten was full of praise for Guilherme:

“We are really happy that Luis Guilherme is now a West Ham United player. He is a very exciting young talent who we have followed for some time, and once we became aware that he was available, Julen and I were determined to bring him to London.”

West Ham now ready offer to sign new £17m left-back

There’s been contact with his representatives.

ByCharlie SmithJun 20, 2024

He then added: “This is a very important signing for us – we’ve worked hard across the Club, working closely with the Board, to secure Luis’s signature.

"We know how the tough the Premier League is, and we want a squad that is competitive next season, but also to find the balance of ensuring that we plan for the longer-term future. Exciting young players like Luis Guilherme will help us to reach those goals.”

Guilherme looks to be the first of many through the London Stadium door ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. For example, contact has been made with left-back Ryan Sessegnon after he left Tottenham, whereas a bid was reportedly launched to sign striker Jhon Arias.

Fabrizio Romano also recently revealed that contacts have begun over reuniting Lopetegui with Wolves centre-back Max Kilman, but it is a goalkeeper who is on course to be the next addition of the window.

West Ham agree Wes Foderingham terms

According to Sky Sports’ Sheth on X, West Ham have agreed terms with goalkeeper Wes Foderingham after he departed Sheffield United. The soon-to-be free agent has agreed a two-year deal at the London Stadium, whereas Nathan Trott is set to secure a permanent Hammers exit to FC Copenhagen.

Foderingham, now 33 years of age, will officially become a free agent at the end of the month, but his exit from the Blades has already been confirmed and West Ham have seemingly made their move for the shot-stopper, who Jurgen Klopp hailed as "incredible" following a save last year.

Chelsea must rue selling superstar who’s just as influential as Palmer

da lvbet: The Chelsea faifthul have had the privilege of watching numerous superstars play for their club, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba, and Frank Lampard coming to mind.

da esport bet: However, the latest individual to join that list is without doubt Cole Palmer, who exceeded all expectations during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer

The former Manchester City player was the heartbeat of the Blues, ending the season with 22 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League alone.

However, there was once a young Chelsea ace who got away, and today, he would’ve been just as influential as Palmer.

The fee that Chelsea sold Jamal Musiala for

At the age of seven, Jamal Musiala moved to England from his birthplace, Germany, and by the age of eight, he had become a Chelsea academy player.

However, Football London said that the attacking midfielder failed to see a pathway into the first team, and Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich ‘presented a clear developmental path compared to Cobham.’

Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala.

Having already made up his mind, the German international then left Chelsea at the age of 16 to join Bayern Munich for just £170k, as per the Daily Mail.

Despite Chelsea offering him a new contract, the club had to settle for having a 20% sell-on clause in his contract at Bayern instead, with what could prove to be one of the biggest howlers in the club’s recent history.

Jamal Musiala’s 23/24 campaign

Since his departure from England, it’s fair to say that Musiala has developed into one of the most promising footballers on the entire globe.

If it already hadn’t by now, his name has reached those outside of Germany thanks to an incredible start to the 2024 European Championships, where he’s one of two players to have scored in both games so far.

Germany star Jamal Musiala

It’s fantastic to see the 21-year-old thrive on one of the biggest stages, especially given that his 2023/24 campaign was hindered by numerous small injuries that made him miss 12 matches.

Regardless of his setbacks, the German international was still simply superb in the league, boasting a record of ten goals and six assists in just 20 starts under Thomas Tuchel.

Nonetheless, as you can see from the table, Musiala had the potential to be just as influential as Palmer was last season, which is quite remarkable.

Just like the England international, Bayern’s number ten has the technical class to operate out wide or in central zones, but most importantly, he can win a game on his own, as shown by his goals and assists.

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala.

Furthermore, Musiala has an unpredictable element to his game that enables him to cause chaos against the opposition, with his ability to weave past defenders easily being his trademark move.

The former Chelsea academy star cannot be afforded any space whatsoever, as the outcome is almost guaranteed to be costly, and the same can be said for Palmer.

Musiala’s ability to produce endless amounts of creativity regardless of the game state is what makes him “out of this world,” as dubbed by football scout Jacek Kulig, and it’s fair to say that he’s the catalyst for the majority of attacking situations at Bayern.

Sadly, this is what Chelsea missed out on, and a duo of Palmer and Musiala could have developed into one of the deadliest partnerships to have graced the Premier League.

Crystal Palace could land ideal Olise replacement in "outstanding" £20m ace

da dobrowin: The trouble with surging up the Premier League table is that other teams start to pick off your best talent, and unfortunately for Crystal Palace, that looks to be happening to them this summer.

da cassino online: Oliver Glasner has only been in the job for four months but is already set to lose Michael Olise to German behemoths Bayern Munich, and Tottenham Hotspur are ominously circling above Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

However, with the club now looking like a great environment to play football, attracting exciting players should be a lot easier, and one of the stars touted for a move to Selhurst Park could be the ideal Olise replacement.

Crystal Palace transfer news

A report last month from journalist Bobby Manzi revealed that Palace were interested in Norwich City's Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara following his magnificent form in the second tier, which was then corroborated by the BBC a couple of weeks later.

Norwich midfielder Gabriel Sara.

The good news for the Eagles is that Manzi's initial report claimed that the Canaries would be tempted by offers in excess of £20m.

However, the bad news is that more recent reports from this week suggest that Serie A giants AS Roma are now keen to bring the player to Italy in the coming weeks.

It could be a complicated deal to get over the line, but Sara looks like an exceptionally talented player, and if Steve Parish and Co can get ahead of the Giallorossi, then they absolutely should, as he could be the ideal Olise replacement.

Why Sara would be a great Olise replacement

Unfortunately for Palace, it's unlikely that they will be able to find a like-for-like replacement for Olise in the market this summer simply because the Frenchman is such an exceptional player.

However, Sara certainly seems to be someone who could provide Glasner with some of the attacking impetus he'll lose following the former Reading man's departure.

For example, in his 53 appearances for Norwich last season, he scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists, meaning he maintained an impressive average of a goal involvement every 1.9 games. In comparison, the South Londoner's star attacker scored ten goals and provided six assists in 19 games, equating to a staggering average of a goal involvement every 1.1 games.

Now, the Hammersmth-born gem's numbers are more impressive. However, it should be noted that the Brazilian started 15 games in defensive midfield and still managed to provide a goal contribution more than once every other game, suggesting he could become a potent force under the tutelage of the progressive Glasner.

Ultimately, while Olise will be near enough impossible to replace in a single player, Sara looks like he'd at least be able to help replace some of the Frenchman's output, and under Glasner, who knows how good he could become?

Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy.

The latest name touted for a move to the White side of North London just enjoyed his best campaign in years and has even been compared to England international Marcus Rashford.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Tottenham have maintained their interest in Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and have been 'tracking the winger's situation.'

The good news for the Lilywhites is that the Tricky Trees have set a price at which they'd be willing to sell the talented Englishman.

The bad news is that the price is around ten times what they paid Chelsea for him a year ago, standing at a cool £30m.

Nottingham Forest player Callum Hudson-Odoi

If Levy and Co were to push ahead and bring the former Blues gem to North London, it would be a sizeable investment, but based on his performances last season, it's possibly one worth making, especially with comparisons to Rashford in his back pocket.

Why Hudson-Odoi would be a good signing and his comparison to Rashford

Okay, so before we look at why Hudson-Odoi would be a great signing for Spurs, let's take a look at this comparison to Rashford.

The comparison itself stems from FBref, which looks at all the players in Europe's top five leagues and creates a list of the ten most similar players for each one by position, and for the Forest ace, they have concluded that the Manchester United star is the sixth most similar winger.

The best way to understand some of the statistical reasons behind this decision is to look at how close the pair ranks for certain underlying metrics, such as non-penalty expected goals and assists, progressive passes, shots on target, passing accuracy, shot-creating actions, and successful take-ons, all per 90.

So, aside from his statistical similarities to the England international, why else would he be a good signing for the Lilywhites?

Well, after several years of poor form and setbacks, the "sensational" 23-year-old, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, finally showed the footballing world what he could do again last season, racking up an impressive haul of eight goals and two assists in 34 games for a team that was in a relegation battle for much of the campaign.

Moreover, while a lot has happened in the years since, the former Chelsea gem is still the same person that Bayern Munich were willing to drop £70m on in the 2020/21 season, so if Spurs can secure his services as he starts to find his feet again, it could be a fantastic bit of business.

Ultimately, every transfer involves a certain level of risk, but with the fee not being too excessive, his recent surge in form, and the potential of what he could become, signing Hudson-Odoi this summer could offer a significant upside for Spurs – the comparisons to Rashford are just a bonus.

West Brom must regret selling "future captain" who’s seen his value soar

da poker: Although there will be some disappointment still lingering in the air at the Hawthorns around the Cedric Kipre situation, with the key first-teamer failing to agree a new West Bromwich Albion contract, there will also be some relief that other important personnel have now decided to stay put.

da dobrowin: Both Kyle Bartley and Alex Mowatt putting pen to paper on new deals recently would have satisfied those irked by Kipre not staying for another season, as Carlos Corberan's men aim to be near the top-end of the Championship again, after a positive play-off finish last campaign.

The Spanish Baggies boss, in an ideal world, would now love to turn back time and gain this former centre-back back to strengthen his defence after Kipre's exit, especially with the player in question's transfer value rising since he was sold on just last year.

Dara O'Shea's time at West Brom

Dara O'Shea leaving for the allure of newly promoted Burnley would also have hurt considering the Irishman was a product of the Baggies Academy, rising up the ranks to become a known senior presence, before heading off to his new home at Turf Moor.

It was only really his final full campaign donning a West Brom strip where he managed to nail down a starting spot, however, with 37 league appearances handed to him during the 22/23 season, after only making a meagre 14 in total during the prior one, owing to injury issues.

The 22/23 campaign saw O'Shea shine even when West Brom struggled, with divisive ex-Baggies boss Steve Bruce even describing him as "future captain" material, during some bleak times under his tenure.

The lofty 6 foot 1 centre-back would come into his own even more under the watchful eye of Corberan, as the Baggies rose up the league standings under their new boss at the helm after Bruce's axing, with O'Shea even being handed the armband on occasion to justify Bruce's prediction.

In total, the Irish defender would help his side pick up 14 clean sheets from the 37 games he managed, on top of winning an average of 6.1 duels per game, as a robust and reliable option in the heart of defence.

Burnley certainly saw a lot of promise in the ex-Baggies man and swooped in to sign him for £7m, with West Brom raking in some healthy profit at the time for their former Academy gem.

Yet, with O'Shea now looking likely to move on this summer and cut his Turf Moor adventure short, he could go for far more than his previous £7m price-tag, when looking at his current transfer valuation on Football Transfers.

O'Shea's transfer value in 2024

According to the site, the 25-year-old's estimated value in the here and now stands at a far heftier £12.1m, with the Burnley number two thriving in the Premier League, even whilst his team continually stared relegation in the face.

O'Shea would pick up three goals and four assists playing out from the back for the Clarets in the top-flight, but the 6 foot 1 Celtic target will be disappointed that he could only collect one clean sheet for his troubles from his 33 league clashes, away from starring with his surprise output.

Looking at the table above, Corberan and Co must be plagued with regret that they didn't drive a harder bargain out of the Lancashire club when they sold him on last year, as Celtic now try and sign O'Shea to get even more out of him up in Scotland.

West Brom would love to have the 25-year-old at their disposal instead right now, with Kipre leaving the club for nothing leaving a gap at the back, that will need to be filled soon in the transfer market.

Yet, the West Midlands outfit managed to still make the playoffs last season without O'Shea present and will try to be successful again, having lost another key defender.

Liverpool targeting £30m ace who’d be their most creative CM since Coutinho

da betway: Jurgen Klopp's final season at the Anfield helm was a success. The lionised German manager led Liverpool back into the Champions League with a top-four Premier League finish and won the Carabao Cup despite being plagued by injury at the time.

da doce: Sure, the Reds suffered a detrimental dip in results toward the backend of the campaign, pulling them out of the FA Cup and Europa League, yanking them away from a gripping three-horse title race, but hindsight suggests that it was a job well done when considering the issues stemming from the wretched 2022/23 season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Arne Slot, Liverpool's new head coach, has been hard at work over the past few months, stirring the Merseysiders into life at the beginning of a new era, and now, according to one transfer insider, the Dutchman is ready to make his first signing of the summer.

Liverpool transfer news

Reports from Italy have revealed that Liverpool are 'well informed about the situation' of Celtic star Matt O'Riley, who is expected to leave Parkhead this summer.

Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley.

The playmaker has been the interest of a host of European clubs but FSG could now steal ahead, having emerged as a shock contender to seal a move that could cost in the region of £30m.

What Matt O'Riley would bring to Liverpool

O'Riley signed for Celtic in January 2022 for a bargain fee of £1.5m, having triggered his release clause with MK Dons. Brendan Rodgers has praised the Denmark international's "phenomenal consistency" and he could prove to be a shrewd addition to a Liverpool team in transition.

Celtic'sMattO'Riley

A rangy midfielder at 6 foot 2, the 23-year-old was awarded the Hoops' Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards after his instrumental contribution to another double-winning campaign, while notably being lauded as a "magician" by talent scout Jacek Kulig.

Posting 19 goals and 18 assists across all competitions, Liverpool scouts will hope that the Fulham academy talent's potency would translate to life in the Premier League, though when looking at his underlying numbers in the Scottish Premiership, it's patent that he has the complete skillset required for success.

His playmaking ability might just see him cement a place as the most creative midfielder since Philippe Coutinho plied his trade on Anfield grass, clad in Liverpool red.

Of course, the £14k-per-week ace has some way to go before he reaches the level of Anfield's iconic Brazilian when he was at his best, but he has the right kind of style to perform such a role from No. 10 to an effective level under Slot's leadership.

Signing O'Riley would come with a certain degree of risk, but he's already proved himself as a star performer in the Champions League – not looking "out of place" up against the mighty Real Madrid back in 2022, as journalist Guillem Balague noted – and could prove to be a stunning acquisition in hindsight.

Now, Liverpool just need to set the ball rolling…

He wants Arsenal: Gunners lead race to re-sign £34m star who’s like Felix

da pixbet: Arsenal's rise over the past two seasons has been remarkable. Gone are the post-Arsene Wenger days of misery, where Champions League football was elusive, out of reach, and an outfit on the decline found shining lights in the forms of several talented youngsters.

da pinup bet: Mikel Arteta changed everything, revolutionised the Emirates Stadium and rewrote the narrative, turned the culture on its head, for the better.

With great power comes great responsibility, or so the maxim goes. But it's true in Arsenal's case that they are no longer the exciting up-and-comers; despite falling short against Manchester City in successive Premier League title showdowns, the Gunners are one of Europe's elite.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

173 points across two top-flight campaigns would say as much, as would the club-record £105m signing of Declan Rice, the rise of William Saliba, who is shaping into one of Europe's finest defenders, and the ever-evolving brilliance of Bukayo Saka, who has been hailed as "one of the best players" in England by Wayne Rooney and rightly so.

Depth across a series of positions is still required, and one of the pressing concerns of the 2023/24 term was the lack of prolificness up front. One report suggests that that could be about to change.

Arsenal transfer news

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are preparing to tussle with Liverpool for the signing of Donyell Malen, who has enjoyed a clinical season with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

Donyell Malen for Borussia Dortmund.

A former Hale End member, Malen was sold to PSV Eindhoven when he was 18, turning down offers from Chelsea and Manchester United to complete the transfer.

Now 25, Malen has impressed for Dortmund over the past few years and is expected to extend his contract, but the Bundesliga team would still listen to offers of €40m (£34m), should they be put forth.

Sources believe that the Dutchman's preference, should he leave the Yellow Wall, is to return to his former stomping ground, hence why the north Londoners feel that they are leading the race.

Why Arsenal should re-sign Donyell Malen

Malen, who has 36 international caps (and nine goals) for the Netherlands, would add some invaluable depth to Arteta's thriving outfit, with his dynamic properties allowing him to flourish across the frontline, albeit more clinical when placed on the right wing, for he is two-footed.

With rumours swirling around Reiss Nelson's future in north London, it does seem like signing Malen would be a wise move, especially since Saka started 45 matches for his club last season before featuring prominently for the Three Lions at Euro 2024 this summer.

Arsenal were fortuitous on the injury front last year but such imperious levels of fitness cannot be taken for granted each season, and Malen, who differs in style of play to that of Saka, would be a wonderful addition.

As per FBref, the 5 foot 10 talent ranks among the top 2% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for goals scored and the top 3% for shots taken per 90. Moreover, 2014 World Cup Germany hero Mario Gotze has proclaimed him to be "extremely fast and very dangerous".

After all, last season, the dynamo scored 15 goals and supplied five further assists across 38 matches – and that's despite ten of such appearances coming from the bench.

Donyell Malen for the Netherlands.

Injuries have tugged at the £97k-per-week ace throughout his career but he would join a rich frontline filled with talent at Arsenal and could grow into his skin in a manner not dissimilar to that of Leandro Trossard, with the Belgian marksman considered a comparable player to Malen by FBref's statistical model.

Furthermore, so is Joao Felix, and as Aston Villa fight to sign the Portuguese ace, Arsenal could stay ahead of the curve by signing a similar player of, perhaps, more fitting quality.

Arteta's own Joao Felix

Felix is one of the highest-profile forwards on the continent, rising to fame after an exciting start to his professional career with Benfica and joining Atletico Madrid in a £113m deal in 2019, aged 19.

La Liga Journalist Jose Delgado claimed after Atleti's signing: "Since Ronaldo, we [Spain] have not had a player so exciting and young like him until now." However, such claims would not stand the test of time anymore.

Joao Felix for Barcelona.

Like Malen, Felix performed deceptively well for Barcelona last season, ranking among the top 5% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe's top five leagues for goals scored and the top 4% for shots taken per 90, with his silky-smooth dribbling and playmaking acumen also making him a 'dangerous' outlet.

Malen, too, isn't just a sharpshooter, averaging 1.6 dribbles per game in the German Bundesliga last season and 2.3 per outing with Oranje at the European Championship. He also created nine big chances for his peers in the league.

Dubbed "the football artist" by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Felix would be a credit to Unai Emery's Villan project, and given that Arsenal have been reported – as relayed by Mundo Deportivo – to be among the outfits interested in striking a deal this summer, perhaps it's wise to move for a player of a similar profile in Malen.

Who knows, Dortmund's versatile attacking talent could prove to be the better pick; he's been more clinical across the duration of his career and his propensity for stirring up danger could give Arteta the edge in the pursuit of silverware and success of a higher level, with Kulig claiming that he is "simply unstoppable" when fit and firing.

Forget Merino: Arsenal enter talks for "incredible" £147k-p/w alternative

The “incredible” international would be an excellent signing.
